What is the lean concept?
The lean concept deals with the elimination of waste as a continuous-improvement strategy used in manufacturing industries. The concept also relates to the process of valuation from the customer’s perspective and continuous improvement on the way the value is delivered. The lean idea is of great importance as problems in the industry are turned into opportunities in the managerial levels. It is a concept that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful and therefore targets to eliminate waste (Serrano, Castro, & Laburu, 2009).
Application of Lean concept in manufacturing industries
The lean concept is applied in the manufacturing process in making sure that waste is reduced in the best cost-effective way. It also used to enhance the reliability of the final product manufactured for the consumer. According to (Bamber, & Dale, 2010), lean concept, waste is recognized as an additional cost to the product. Therefore the aim is to reduce the waste and ensure that consumers of the final product get the maximum benefit from that product.
