Pathos, Ethos and CRISPR-Cas9 Technology Information about CRISPR-Cas9 Technology CRISPR stands for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats and is defined as the basis for the technology of editing revolutionary genome that allows DNA researchers to make precise modifications to them (Dominguez et al, 2016). Cas9, on the other hand, is DNA endonucleases enzyme that Is RNA guided that plays an essential role in the immunological defense of specific bacteria against DNA viruses. This process is heavily used in applications that involve genetic engineering (Quétier, 2016). Over the last years, the applications of CRISPR have been increasingly appreciated and developed since it is considered as a significant scientific breakthrough in the field of medicine (Gottlieb & Lombrozo, 2019). The applications of CRISPR-Cas9 Technology are a multitude of kinds. First, this technology is effective for treating medical conditions such as cancer, hepatitis B and high cholesterol, all which have genetic components (Dominguez et al, 2016). Secondly, CRISPR-Cas9 Technology is applied in the editing of genomes of Somatic, which are non-reproductive cells in the body. Implications of the technology and ethical issues…
Blood Pressure in Human Body Blood pressure is a force that is exerted by the blood as it travels through the inner walls of the arteries during the cardiac cycle. Patients with high blood pressure conditions are more prone to heart failure. My recent test for blood pressure reads as 115/75 mm Hg. My systole was 117 mm Hg, while my diastole was 75 mm Hg. This meant that my blood pressure was at a normal condition since it was lower than 120/80 mm Hg. I also tested my friend’s blood pressure which read as 119/78 mm Hg. His systole was 119 mm Hg while his diastole was 78 mm Hg. Monitoring blood pressure frequently in an individual body is very important in ensuring the health of individuals as well as reducing the blood pressure levels for those victims with high blood pressure. Systole refers to the reading of an individual blood pressure that shows the maximum force exerted by the arteries during the contraction of the heart left ventricles as blood flows from the heart to all parts…
The first industrial revolution Industrial revolution refers to a sudden and rapid change from a pre-industrial society to an industrial society of the most recent economic growth. The industrial revolution was characterized by technological, social economic as well as cultural features. The technological transition was characterized by the use of energy sources of fuels and power-driven machines like steam electricity and petroleum. The first industrial revolution led to a factory system which ensured that there is a division of labor and specialization of work. Britain was the first industrial state where the change took place from the 1750s to the 1850s. During the first revolution of industrialization, Britain disallowed the exportation of equipment, trained labor force and manufacturing of techniques. The first industrial revolution is a major concern in the modern world despite the emerging impacts of world human population growth, living and production and rising energy demands. The modern world has experienced numerous impacts as a result of the industrial revolution. The resulting effects of the revolution in the industries started when the application of equipment was used to…
They Say / I Say (TSIS) Before this class, I knew integrating sources as one of the essential parts of academic writing. I knew it as the only necessary tool for writing, but this notion has changed after this class. I learnt that integrating sources entails introducing sources in my paper without matching them with the arguments that I have made in my paper. I also knew integrating sources as a step to allow my tutor to notice that I have researched the topic well and that I have put the work of other experts into consideration. My reading of TSIS has changed the knowledge that I had about academic writing. TSIS has taught me that for my academic writing to be effective; I should identify the key rhetorical moves to make my writing more pleasing. I also learnt how to frame my arguments in a broad context through discussion for better understanding. TSIS has also taught me that the sources identified should be cited well in any paper as well as using quotation marks in the right way when writing.…
“Did you know it takes three sheep to make a sweeter”? “ I didn’t know sheep could knight.” The above sentence is ridiculous and has a lot of humor in it. Written in the form of a question and answer, it serves the purpose of teaching us the importance of a sheep. Even though the question is asked in the right manner, the response has a lot of sense of humor because one might think that a sheep can knit and make sweeter like human beings. Imagine a sheep operating a sewing machine and making clothes! That is very funny. Even though the meaning of the sentence is that wool from three sheep is enough for the manufacture of one sweeter, it has been written humorously. This humor makes an emotional appeal because it gives rise pathos, which is a rhetorical strategy. Emotionally, sheep have to lose their lives so that people can wear sweeter. This pathos creates negative emotion. It is effective because it will make us change our notion and perception towards the sheep.
Response to Legal and Ethical Principles in Nursing Practice Post 1 response Once you hear about medical or nursing ethics in a health care setting would sound just easy although there are specific ethical issues that do arise as a result of the sensitive nature of handling the lives of people. Health care providers are expected to abide by the laws and a code of ethics which govern how they behave. These ethics are associated with moral principles and actions. There is a significant view presented on this post that nurses are obliged to give respect to the decisions and wishes of the patients irrespective of whether they like them or not. It would be essential to concur with the idea that health care specialists should have the responsibility to give advice or suggestions to the patients. However, any actions that may be taken to persuade the patients to make a decision would be a violation of the autonomy principle. Also, it is right to say that the health care professionals need to practice to do good or doing that…
What gets in the way We are learning about how to stage, or deliver, customer experiences. You now know that customer service is done at an individual level and creating experiences is an organizational effort involving many people and functional, mechanic, and humanic clues. Given this, the question for this discussion is: What do you think are the three biggest challenges companies face if they decide to implement a culture of creating customer experiences? Your Opinion Voice your opinion in the main post and state three reasons to support your opinion. You are to form your own opinion and reasons and not just summarize articles you may have found online or those given in the video you watched. Incorporate the research you did into your reasoning. [unique_solution]In addition, keep in mind these requirements for your main post: § Support your reasons with at least two outside sources not given to you in this course. § Use in-text citations so we know where in your main post you use the information you found. § Include the URLs at the end of…
Judge Holden Cormac McCarthy use of vivid description and imagery in this part that involves sermon ceremony reveals Judge Holden as a demonically violent character in the novel. McCarthy, more so in this occasion of a sermon by Reverend Greens, clearly brings out attributes that reveal judge as nothing but devil that has affinity for war. During the sermon, judge Holden gets into the tent where the congregation is assembled. From his appearance Cormac McCarthy describes him as a giant with serene, child like face and small hands which does not depict the features of human. He perceives him as a mystery from his outlook. Cormac McCarthy describes the judge physical appearance to be unbelievable and full of contrast where the imagery of childlike display traits of a child and judge tend to complement each other. He grows up too fast and seems forever young unlike normal children who took too long to grow. He is believed to have ability to move from one area to another and be at different places at the same time. For instance, he moves…
Judge Holden’s Disruption of Reverend Green’s Sermon Cormac McCarthy use of vivid description and imagery in this part that involves sermon ceremony reveals Judge Holden as a demonically strong character in the novel. McCarthy, more so in this occasion of a sermon by Reverend Greens, clearly brings out attributes that reveal judge as nothing but the devil that has an affinity for war. During the sermon, judge Holden gets into the tent where the congregation is assembled. From his appearance, Cormac McCarthy describes him as a giant with a smooth, childlike face and small hands which do not depict the features of human. He perceives him as a mystery from his outlook; “The enormous dome of his head when he bared it was blinding white and perfectly circumscribed about so that it looked to have been painted”. Cormac McCarthy describes the judge physical appearance to be unbelievable and full of contrast where the imagery of childlike display traits of a child and judge tend to complement each other. He grows up too fast and seems forever younger like healthy children…
Bike Sharing Programs in Cities Many cities all across the globe are adopting bike-sharing programs as a reliable mean of transport over a short distance. It is a thriving business in the US, and business people are more than willing to invest in it (Lee, J 2013). Bike riding is considered the most suitable when meandering along with the city if a commuter wants to avoid the burden of multiple bus transfers, costly taxi charges, and the risk of sole feet from walking (El-Assi et al, 2017). However, there are numerous factors to consider for a city to decide whether or not to develop a bike-sharing program. A midsized city, for example, should consider the size and effect of traffic jam along with the city (Lee, J 2013). If a lot of time is wasted along the road due to traffic jam, the bike sharing program can be adopted. Another factor to consider before investing in a bike sharing program is the impact of weather variables in the city (El-Assi et al, 2017). Cold temperatures, too much rain, and high…
